Job Summary:
Join our dynamic team as a Camp Counselor-in-Training (CIT) specializing in horseback riding at our summer day camp! As a CIT, you will assist experienced riding instructors in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for campers. Your responsibilities will include leading our campers during riding lessons and other activities, helping with stable management, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist our senior riding instructors in the supervision and instruction of campers during horseback riding lessons, with the priority being a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable riding experience for the campers
- Aid in the care and maintenance of horses, including grooming, feeding, and stable upkeep.
- Act as a positive role model for campers, promoting teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Assist in organizing and leading activities both horse-related and arts & crafts
- Help animate play-based learning during free time
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages campers to develop confidence and skills in horseback riding.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance your knowledge of equine care, safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for working with children in an outdoor camp setting
- Basic knowledge and experience in horseback riding.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to learn and take on responsibilities as part of the CIT program.
- First Aid training or babysitter’s course completion considered an asset
Commitment
We are ideally looking for CITs who can commit for all 6 weeks of camp, but also recognize that families have other summer plans and are open to receiving applications for CITs who can only attend certain weeks.
We cannot currently hire CITs for partial weeks. You must be able to attend Mon-Fri on the weeks you commit to.
Hours
Each day starts at 7:30 AM to prep for the arrival of the campers. CITs are requested to stay until 4:00 PM to help with camper departures and final clean ups for the day.
Camp runs Mon-Fri, on the following weeks:
WEEK 1: June 23 – June 27 WEEK 2: June 30 – July 1 WEEK 3: July 14 – July 18 WEEK 4: July 21 – July 25 WEEK 5: August 4 – August 8
